Abdullah Al-Sharbati of Saudi Arabia dominated the Arabian platform in the showjumping category, winning gold on Friday at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. Al-Sharbati, 41, finished the race in 39.68 seconds, beating out Emiratis Omar Al-Janibi (42.31) and Abdullah Al-Marri (42.55). This is Al-Sharbati's second gold medal at the current games, following his team showjumping victory with Abdulrahman Al-Rajhi, Ramzi Al-Dahami, and Mishari Al-Harbi.

Al-Sharbati previously won team gold medals in 2006, 2010, and 2018, as well as an individual gold medal in 2014. He also helped the squad win bronze at the London 2012 Olympics. With their recent triumph, Saudi Arabia has four gold medals and is ranked sixteenth in the overall standings.

Saudi equestrianism began its great voyage in 2006 in the Asian Games in Doha, where they won team gold, which they defended in Guangzhou in 2010. Individual gold and bronze medals were also won by Ramzi Al-Dahami and Khaled Al-Aid. Abdullah Al-Sharbati earned individual gold and the team silver in Incheon 2014. The team's success continued in Jakarta 2018, where they won gold in showjumping. Al-Sharbati previously won team gold medals in 2006, 2010, and 2018, as well as an individual gold medal in 2014. He also helped the squad win bronze at the London 2012 Olympics.

Tariq Hamdi of Saudi Arabia won bronze in the +84 kg division, defeating Nepali Biplov Lal Shrestha 9-1. This came after a difficult semi-final loss against Kyrgyzstan's Adilat Shadikanov by a score of 4-5.
