The General Department of Traffic has cautioned that there are just few days left in the grace period for paying the reduced traffic fines. Since the fines will return to their full amount after April 18, 2025, the agency urged persons involved to take advantage of the 50% reduction on traffic infractions accrued prior to that date or pay them before then.
In accordance with the grace period, which was announced on April 18, 2024, of a fifty percent reduction in traffic fines, offenders can pay their fines in full or in installments for each infraction.
According to the earlier royal directive, the reduction applied to all infractions committed before to April 18, 2024, and in order to qualify for the reduction, all accrued traffic fines had to be paid within six months, from April 18 to October 18, 2024.
The grace period for paying a 50% reduction in accumulated traffic penalties was extended for an additional six months, as stated by the Ministry of Interior in October 2024.
In accordance with the highest authorities' instruction, the new grace period will expire on April 18, 2025.
The royal directive, which is enforced by the Ministry of Interior, states that offenders who commit any of four particular offenses during the reduction time will not be eligible for the discount. These infractions include drifting, driving while under the influence of narcotics or other prohibited substances, and going over the speed limit by more than 50 km/h on highways with a 120 km/h restriction or more than 30 km/h on roads with a 140 km/h limit.
