A fifty percent decrease in the total amount of traffic penalties that were accrued prior to April 18, 2024 (9/10/1445 AH) has been announced by the Saudi Ministry of Interior. As instructed by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as well as King Salman bin Abdulaziz, this has happened.
The programme seeks to incentivize infringers to pay their fines within six months of the initiative's launch, either by paying all fines at once or by paying each fine separately, without engaging in any safety-related offences. It is coordinated with the Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA).
The Ministry made it clear that Article 75 of the Traffic Law would apply to infractions that happened following the implementation of this decrease. In addition to possible incarceration and enforcement procedures if the fine is not paid after the objection period and the legally mandated payment deadline have passed, this provision offers a 25% reduction for a single offence. To maintain public safety and prevent infractions, it advised all users of the road to abide by traffic laws.
