6th International Conference on Forensic Sciences & Forensic Medicine 2023 began on Tuesday

Tuesday marked the start of the 6th International Conference on Forensic Sciences & Forensic Medicine 2023 at the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences headquarters in Riyadh. Approximately 700 professionals and experts in criminology, forensic medicine, and forensic sciences from the Arab Society for Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine, the Arab region, Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Serbia, and Brazil, among other international organisations, will attend the three-day event.

Given the importance of forensic sciences and its laboratories to the achievement of criminal justice and crime detection, Prof. Tariq Al-Rayes, vice president of NAUSS, stated that the institution gave them the proper attention. He said that a sizable number of professionals from both Arab and international nations attended the meeting. Since it keeps professionals informed about the most recent findings in this crucial sector, it is regarded as a significant event in forensic medicine.

During the meeting, Al-Rayes stated that the university aimed to improve collaboration and share knowledge and concepts. This gathering drew a prestigious group of scientific professionals from across the world.

In order to promote their goods to scientific and security organisations and authorities, a number of prominent firms in the disciplines of forensic sciences and forensic medicine participated in an accompanying exposition.

According to Al-Rayes, the university was looking for practical training that would improve the efficiency of those who worked in forensic laboratories and the field of forensic inquiry in general. The university established a number of academic forensic sciences programmes in response to this demand, and its facilities underwent continuous renovation to stay up to date with emerging trends and technology.

In order to support the holistic idea of security, the university also built a number of centres of excellence, which formed a scientific addition that satisfied the ambitions of Arab families in security-related disciplines.

In his speech, Professor Michael Thali, the chair of the University of Zurich's Institute of Forensic Medicine, emphasised the significance of the conference and its function in fostering communication among forensic medicine professionals.

Scientific papers on forensic genetic tracks, forensic toxicology and chemistry, pathology, digital forensics, forensic medicine, forgery and counterfeiting, crime scenes, forensic naturalism, anthropology, criminal law, and crises and disasters will all be discussed during the conference. There will be other specialised workshops at the conference as well.

More than 53 publications by NAUSS covering forensic sciences and forensic medicine were published in Arabic and English. These publications have grown to be primary sources of information for scholars and have enhanced the Arab library dedicated to this area.
