A captivating performance by the all-female rock fusion band – Seera thrilled the audience at The Warehouse in Riyadh

Seera, an all-female rock fusion band, is audaciously breaking ground on the Kingdom's local music scene by boldly establishing a mostly unexplored psychedelic sound as the profile of women in the modern music business in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East continues to increase.

At The Warehouse in Riyadh on Thursday night, the Saudi band played their debut live gig in front of more than 200 spectators after DJ Haffs provided a warm-up. The distinctive sounds of the quartet, which consisted of guitarist Haya, bassist Meesh, drummer THING, and lead vocalist and keyboardist Nora, reverberated across the arena. The crowd was impressed.

Seera's biggest effect may extend beyond music, though, and be seen in how they affect other Saudi women. The group wishes to inspire others to perform live by making their live debut.

The band's history started when Haya connected with Meesh and Nora's sisters on Instagram and they came together for a jam session a year ago.

The group's music, which mixes their passions for jazz, funk, soul, and Turkish psychedelic rock, is evocative of artists from the 1970s like Jefferson Aeroplane and Janis Joplin, but with Arabic and English elements to give it its own unique twist.
