A new transportation service, Makkah Taxi is launched for Makkah City and Holy Sites

Makkah Taxi, a new transportation service created by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) General Transport Center, was introduced at the Hajj Conference and Exhibition. It was granted the first operating license in Makkah under the contract concession system.

At the launch event were Prince Saud bin Mishal, the Deputy Emir of Makkah Region; Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah; and Saleh Al-Jasser, the Minister of Transport and Logistic.

According to the RCMC, Makkah Taxi started operating on Monday, January 13, and it will roll out gradually to provide a seamless transition. For easy access and effective service, the service will be available at 47 points around Makkah, including important stations and the Grand Mosque area. It will run around the clock.

During the service debut at the conference, Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic, gave the Makkah Taxi operating license to the successful company. By the end of 2025, the fleet is expected to have grown to about 1,800 vehicles, greatly improving transportation services and satisfying the expanding demand in Makkah, the holy city.
