NewsAccording to an official press release, the Ministry of Culture has opened applications for its ground-breaking "Emerging New Media Artists" Programme, which will take place at the soon-to-be Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) Centre.
The programme is designed to give up-and-coming creatives from the area and beyond unmatched growth chances. Selected candidates will have access to cutting edge production resources, a specialised production budget, and a wide range of interdisciplinary study opportunities. Beyond traditional assistance, the programme provides participants with one-on-one mentoring from global digital artists to help and coach them.
This project is a component of a bigger partnership between Diriyah Company and the Ministry of Culture, marking the beginning of Diriyah Art Futures as the world's first centre dedicated only to New Media arts. In addition to encouraging creativity across a range of visual art mediums, DAF envisions a location that places a strong emphasis on empowerment, education, and the development of an atmosphere that stimulates artistic imagination.
Located in the heart of Diriyah's historical district, the centre aims to develop Saudi Arabia's creative scene and enhance the location's reputation as a major worldwide cultural hub. "Designed in collaboration with Le Fresnoy — Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France," the news statement stated, "focuses on creative production training and is a one-year initiative for DAF's Emerging New Media Artists Programme."
The programme is now accepting applications from those who are 35 years of age or younger, have completed their graduate degree or postgraduate work, and have experience developing and producing digital and new media arts. Prospective artists are urged to take advantage of this chance to be a part of an innovative programme that will likely influence New Media arts in the future.
