Asian Football Confederation Congress approves Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Extraordinary Congress 2023 has formally endorsed Saudi Arabia's bid to host the 2034 World Cup in a show of strong unity. FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) President Yasser Al-Misehal participated in the virtual congress on Wednesday, which was presided over by AFC President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

President Al-Misehal expressed appreciation to the AFC and member organisations for supporting Saudi Arabia's competitive bid to host the esteemed tournament in 2034. He gave the assurance that Saudi Arabia is determined to submit a winning bid that highlights the outstanding developments in Saudi and Asian football.

Concurrently, the AFC member associations held elections, designating Bandar Al-Hamidani, the head of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee, as a member of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for the 2023–2027 period.
