Asir attracts visitors to museums and art galleries, with 541,544 visitors recorded in 2023

With 541,544 reported visitors in 2023, Asir topped all other regions in Saudi Arabia in terms of the quantity of local journeys that included stops at museums and art galleries. This data is taken from the Ministry of Culture's 2023 Cultural Status Report, which is available on its official website and social media pages.

According to the survey, the reason Asir leads the world in cultural tourism is because of the large number of privately owned museums and establishments that display the country's traditional crafts, such as honey production, traditional industries, and cat arts.

Asir's strong position in the industry is largely due to the region's cultural tourism boom, which captures the essence of the dynamic and distinctive southern areas of Saudi Arabia. With 45% of the market share indicators for both domestic and foreign tourist excursions that included cultural activities, Asir came in second place, after the Al-Baha area.

The link between culture and tourism is clarified by the Cultural Tourism Index, especially with regard to the economic impact.

Through market share research of local and inbound tourist journeys that include cultural activities, the data shows how appealing cultural resources and services are to visitors and quantifies their impact on economic activity.
