Automated monitoring to inspect specialized and educational transport buses

The implementation of the automated monitoring to inspect the violations of specialized and educational transport buses will begin next February, as announced by the Transport General Authority (TGA). The automated monitoring aims to strengthen the traffic safety and raise the percentage of buses' compliance with the regulations and technical requirements that are determined by TGA. This move will contribute in raising the quality and efficiency of the provided services, and ensure the regularity and quality of the services provided in transportation activities.

The authority said that several violations will be monitored automatically through this phase, which include operating the buses or vehicles without obtaining an operating card or expired operating card. In addition, the monitoring will be to see if the buses or vehicles in the activity are used for a period exceeding the approved operational life. It has confirmed that it will announce later when any new activity or violation that will be monitored automatically will be added.

The TGA has emphasized that the automated monitoring project is considered as one of the most important in the monitoring aspect and are based on the latest technologies to develop the public transport system. This comes in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and to improve life's quality and raise safety levels for beneficiaries of public transport services throughout Saudi Arabia's cities and regions.
