Decision to Saudize 25 percent of engineering professions in the private sector effective from July 21, 2024

In collaboration with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development said that, as of July 21, 2024, 25 percent of engineering professions in the private sector will be Saudized. This will apply to all private sector businesses that hire five engineers or other technical professionals. This decision is a result of the two ministries' attempts to give male and female residents of the Kingdom's many areas more engaging and fruitful employment options. This decision will increase the degree of involvement in the labour market, and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing has stated that it would endeavour to follow up and execute it.

In line with the demands of the labour market and the specialisation of engineering professions, the ministry will oversee its implementation. The ministry further stated that the human resources and social development system's incentives and support programmes for hiring Saudis will benefit private sector companies. These programmes and incentives include aiding in the attraction and search for qualified candidates, facilitating the required training and certification process, and facilitating the hiring and advancement of careers. In addition, focus will be given to utilising all nationalisation assistance programmes within the system, as well as employment and support initiatives funded by the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF).
