Decree for the establishment of a Global CyberSecurity Forum Institute issued by King Salman

A royal decree has been issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, directing the establishment of a Global CyberSecurity Forum (GCF) Institute. The Monarch gave the order for the GCF Institute's main office to be in Riyadh.

The GCF Institute was required by the Royal Decree to be financially and administratively autonomous, non-profit, and fully capable of achieving its objectives and doing business under the direction of its own Board of Trustees. The creation of the GCF Institute seeks to improve international collaboration, economic and social growth in this area, as well as cybersecurity at the global level. It also supports worldwide initiatives in this area.

The launch confirms Saudi Arabia's position as a global leader in this sector worldwide, as well as its contribution to supporting and coordinating global initiatives.

The Kingdom has opened doors for sharing information, exchanging experiences, and investigating joint venture possibilities in the field of cybersecurity.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), an international Board of Trustees would oversee the GCF Institute and be entrusted with preserving the institution's viability and independence. A carefully selected group of worldwide specialists from the highest levels of government, academia, think tanks, and business will make up the advisory council for the institution. The creation of the GCF Institute seeks to improve international collaboration, economic and social growth in this area, as well as cybersecurity at the global level. It also supports worldwide initiatives in this area.

SPA made it clear that the GCF Institute will provide the international community with a fresh tool to support ongoing initiatives and fully use cyberspace.

According to SPA, the annual Global Cybersecurity Forum will continue to bring together specialists and decision-makers from across the world through the Institute to address safeguarding the most vulnerable in cyberspace while maximising its advantages for everyone. It is important to note that Saudi Arabia has achieved advancements in cybersecurity on a local, regional, and worldwide level, making the Saudi model in this sector today a successful and trailblazing model that is acknowledged globally.

The Kingdom has improved its standing in a variety of global measures. In addition to the Cybersecurity Index based on the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2022, it was placed second internationally in the cybersecurity index according to the United Nations categorization.
