NewsAccording to the Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabian authorities reaffirmed on Tuesday that contributions given during the holy month of Ramadan must go through approved channels and organisations within the Kingdom.
The warning was issued "to ensure the safety of charitable work and grow its income sources, alongside the raised concerns of the possibility of Ramadan being exploited by some entities or individuals for collecting money from citizens and residents under the guise of raising donations," according to a spokesperson for the Presidency of State Security.
The Saudi humanitarian organisation KSrelief is the only organisation permitted to accept donations from those wishing to give overseas, according to the SPA. The president further said that donors who disobey these directives would be held accountable under the laws currently in effect in the Kingdom.
