NewsThe draught regulations about the incentive payments for those who assist the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in identifying infractions of the Agricultural Law were made public. A monetary incentive of not more than SR50000 and not less than SR1000 will be given to whistleblowers, under the draught regulations. Violations must be reported using the ministry-approved channels and platforms using the form created specifically for that purpose. Name, contact information, ID number, kind of infraction, place, and address of the violation, and supporting documentation and information would all be provided by the whistleblower.
After receiving the report, the relevant departments would review it to ensure that the data was accurate, confirm that no previous whistleblowers had reported the in question violation, and, once the whistleblowers' eligibility had been established, recommend rewards for them to the Rewards Committee.
The incentive will be given in accordance with the ministry's discretionary authority, provided that the report has resulted in the identification of any Agricultural Law and its executive regulation violations, the whistleblower is not the inspector's first or second degree relative who is in charge of inspecting and proving the alleged violation, and the informant was not complicit in the reported violation.
The ministry is responsible for maintaining the privacy of the reports that are submitted to it and for not disclosing any information that might identify the whistleblower. The incentive award is paid out of the budget. The ministry has the power to withhold the actions taken in response to the reports and the conclusions made. In the event that the filed report is shown to be inaccurate, it also has the authority to take the appropriate action.
