Drone Racing World Cup begins Thursday at Boulevard City in Riyadh

Starting Thursday at Boulevard City in Riyadh, the Drone Racing World Cup will award winners with prizes worth over SAR1.3 million. The three-day event, which is one of the many events taking place during the current Riyadh Season, is organized by the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones in partnership with the World Air Sports Federation.

Since its start in 2016, the cup has been the first of its type in the Middle East and North Africa.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), world drone racing champions will compete in this year's event, including 2024 FAI World Drone Racing Championship winners Kim Minjae and Yuki Hashimoto; 2023 FAI Drone Racing World Cup winner Killian Rousseau; 2024 Women's FAI Drone Racing Championship twin Luisa Rizzo; and 2023 FAI World Drone Racing Championship winner Min Chan Kim; 

The finals will take place on Saturday after the qualifying rounds, which begin Thursday and run until Friday at noon. 

There will be an activity area with a number of related activities, such as a Drones Hub for training professionals and amateurs, a Drag Racing Zone for straight-line speed competitions, a Fly Free Zone for testing and controlling drones, a VR Drone Racing simulation that uses virtual reality glasses, Drone Workshops for training, designing, assembling, and building drones, and a Fans Zone for watching the Drone Racing World Cup competitions.
