Prince Fahd bin Sultan, the emir of the Tabuk area, officially opened 34 brand-new development projects totaling around SR1 billion. At a ceremony on Monday in Tabuk, he also officially launched the city's public bus transportation initiative in the presence of Housing and Municipal and Rural Affairs Minister Majed Al-Hogail. The projects' goals are to enhance the region's cities and governorates' infrastructure and general quality of life.

The new development projects in the Tabuk region are part of the ministry's efforts to keep up with the aspirations of the wise leadership in developing Saudi cities and turning them into smart and sustainable cities, according to Al-Hogail, who spoke on the occasion and praised the Emir Prince Fahd's support for the ministry's programmes and projects. These initiatives also support the realisation of the Vision 2030 objectives of the Kingdom within highly effective plans and programmes that position the Kingdom's cities at the forefront of the global economy.

Al-Hogail stated that the ministry's goal is to enhance the urban environment and standard of living in the Tabuk region's cities and governorates by implementing new development projects. These projects include improving road efficiency, building parks and pedestrian walkways, constructing squares and neighbourhood centres, installing rainwater drainage networks, and mitigating the risk of flooding. Numerous initiatives in the tourist, leisure, and health sectors are spread throughout the region.

Al-Hogail noted that in 2023, the Tabuk region saw the implementation of approximately 35 municipal development projects worth over SR710 million. These projects are intended to improve traffic movement through the development of pedestrian paths and bridges, raise the efficiency of roads to improve traffic movement, drain rainwater and prevent floods. In all, 69 projects totaling more than SR1.7 billion have been initiated or are currently in the process of being implemented.
