04 Oct 2023
NewsDelegates at the Universal Postal Union's fourth Extraordinary Congress in the Saudi capital have decided to implement the so-called Riyadh Solution to boost international mailing services. The move, which comes after years of deliberation and labour to expand the logistics industry, aims to boost global cooperation and partnerships while making them more integrated. The project was intended to improve cooperation among UPU members and other postal sector entities while also increasing the quality and extent of products and services offered globally.
The convention, which runs till October 5, is attended by representatives from over 190 nations. They will look into ways to increase membership and address important concerns impacting the global postal system. The Riyadh Solution would include projects such as the development of customised business models and the facilitation of access to UPU services by parties other than designated operators or official postal institutions.
The UN agency considers the Riyadh Solution to be an important step towards a more connected and efficient global postal system that satisfies the increasing demands of persons and companies globally.
