Fine of SR100,000 for damaging, blocking or obstructing public roads or flood drainage systems

Individuals who intentionally damage, block, or impede public roadways or flood drainage systems will face a maximum fine of SR100,000 under new laws enacted under the Public Facilities Protection Law.

The sanctions are designed to cover up to 75% of the cost of repairs, with the total penalty set at SR100,000.

If a group of individuals is found to be guilty for the infraction, they will be punished collectively. Furthermore, violators must pay for any damages, including repair costs, and failing to do so will result in charges being recovered through legal procedures under the State Revenue Law.

Those who illegally trespass on public roadways or drainage channels, making cuts or holes for personal gain, will face fines of up to SR50,000.

Individuals who disturb public roads with hazardous materials like petroleum products or dirt face fines of up to SR3,000.

The restrictions also penalize unapproved construction or damage to roads and drainage systems, with fines of up to 10% of the restoration expenses, maximum at SR100,000. If relevant permissions were obtained, the fee is reduced to 5%.

Those who illegally trespass on public roadways or drainage channels, making cuts or holes for personal gain, will face fines of up to SR50,000.

Individuals who disturb public roads with hazardous materials like petroleum products or dirt face fines of up to SR3,000.

The law also punishes tampering with water and energy meters, public telephone devices, and railways, with fines of up to SR3,000 for individuals found guilty of harming or interrupting these services. Anyone who facilitates illicit access to public facilities shall face a fine of SR2,000.

Repeat violators will face doubled fines, up to twice the maximum punishment, with the head of the responsible body deciding whether to compensate or fine them.
