Global Index on AI Safety; Saudi Arabia achieved 11th position globally and top spot regionally

The International Research Center for AI Ethics and Governance in Beijing and the Beijing Institute of AI Safety and Governance released the Global Index on AI Safety (GIAIS), which places Saudi Arabia first regionally and eleventh globally (out of 40 countries), marking a major milestone in AI safety.

The Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA) took part in a dialogue session to discuss the findings of the first International AI Safety Report, which was published on January 29, 2025, at the AI, Science, and Society conference, which was held in conjunction with the AI Action Summit in Paris.

This outstanding accomplishment for the Kingdom is due to a number of important aspects. With 8.3% of all related research published worldwide, Saudi Arabia has notably advanced the field of AI safety research. Furthermore, creating and putting into practice safe and responsible AI policies inside the Kingdom is made possible by a strong and thorough governance framework.
