The Grand Mosque in Makkah has 120 prayer rooms and 12,000 Zamzam water containers to make sure that visitors during Ramadan have a pleasant stay.
In order to make the mosque as welcoming and secure as possible for visitors during the holy month, staff members at the location have been working around the clock on the third Northern expansion.
About 120 worship spaces have been set aside at the location by the General Presidency of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. A number of new entrance and exit doors have been added as new additions to better serve visitors.
The specifically designated doors, according to Walid Al-Masoudi, head of the General Administration of the Third Saudi Expansion at the Grand Mosque, would make it easier for worshippers to arrive and assist them on their way to the mosque.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, Walid Al-Masoudi, the director of the General Administration of the Third Saudi Expansion at the Grand Mosque, said that the specially designated doors would make it easier for worshippers to arrive and help them on their way to the prayer rooms on the ground and first floors.
According to him, the roof level will be utilised for the first time, and if the Grand Mosque's interior spaces are full, the northern and western courtyards and some of the service structures will be used because they can hold more people.
Al-Masoudi claimed that approximately 26 elevators had been installed in collaboration with the relevant authorities and organisations.
"22,000 carpets and more than 12,000 Zamzam water containers have been provided for all of the mosque's prayer areas," he continued.
Following a decision by the administration to improve the experience of those visiting the site during Ramadan, visitors to the Grand Mosque will have the chance to learn more about the Prophet Muhammad.
