NewsTuesday saw the start of an initiative by Tarshid, the National Energy Services Co., to improve energy efficiency in Saudi Geological Survey buildings and facilities in the Jeddah governorate.
In line with Vision 2030, Tarshid aims to support the Kingdom's strategic sustainability objective of making significant energy savings and cutting carbon emissions.
The firm claims that it has carried out technical and field studies on SGS buildings and facilities as part of the project, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
To increase energy efficiency, Tarshid used 10 key factors, including lighting, air conditioning, and control systems.
The requirements include installing control sensors, replacing conventional lighting with energy-saving, high-performance LED systems, and replacing air conditioner units with energy-efficient ones.
Through this project, it will be possible to decrease annual electricity use from roughly 13 million kilowatt-hours to roughly 10 million.
Together with the departments of finance and energy, the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center launched Tarshid.
