Insurance is mandatory for domestic workers registered with the employer in Saudi Arabia
02 Jul 2024
NewsInsurance for domestic workers who are registered with their employer is now required if their number surpasses four, as decided by the Saudi Council of Health Insurance (CHI) and the Insurance Authority (IA). The health insurance company's approval, the submission of a medical disclosure form, and the purchase of insurance for each employee are the standard prerequisites for implementing the policy's benefits and coverage limitations.
In an endeavour to provide comprehensive healthcare and preventive services to all beneficiaries, the CHI and the IA started putting this decision into practice. For all parties involved, it also seeks to strengthen fairness, openness, and quality in performance.
The decision intends to provide universal healthcare, guarantee the viability of health coverage, encourage health insurance companies and healthcare service providers to introduce new products, and expand employment opportunities at these organisations across all medical and non-medical specialisations.
