Jeddah Municipality has prepared to deal with any emergencies from rain

Equipment and manpower have been arranged to deal with any emergencies from the rain in the city over the weekend by the The Jeddah Municipality. 3,822 employees and 1,490 pieces of equipment are in place to deal with the rainy situation that the governorate is witnessing in different locations, according to the municipality plan. The work teams were distributed across 16 sub-municipalities and 13 support centers.

The spokesman for the municipality, Mohammed Al-Boqami, explained that the implemented plan includes quickly draining water pools and removing the effects of the rain. He reassured about the readiness of pumps, equipment and personnel, as well as the maintenance the rainwater drainage network. Al-Boqami noted that this field plan coincides with the efforts of the Jeddah municipality to implement a rainwater drainage network in the city, as part of a number of projects of the current stage throughout the governorate, which included developing urgent solutions for critical sites.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) said in a statement that moderate to heavy rain would hit many parts of Makkah including Jeddah and Rabigh in the coming days.

Hussein Al-Qahtani, the spokesman for NCM, said in a statement that weather indications show that the current rainy situation in Jeddah would not be at the rates of the torrential rain that hit Jeddah for several hours on Nov. 24.
