The Local Administration Center was established in appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, for his immortal efforts in transforming the city of Riyadh from a small town into a prosperous urban metropolis and an international capital, when he was the Emir of the region.
The Center conducts research and studies, provides advisory services, organizes events and designs specialized executive training curricula related to local administration and other related fields, providing its services to partners and clients through a professional and specialized cadre. The center also administers the King Salman Prize for Arab Local Administration in cooperation with the Arab Organization for Administrative Development, in addition to hosting special projects such as the digital map of the Saudi government.
The center is the first research center in the Kingdom specialized in local administration, and it enjoys a prestigious position as the first non-profit research center that combines theory and practice, making it a partner for decision-makers in setting goals. The concept of local administration - according to the center's perspective - is the methods and mechanisms by which the concerned government agencies organize the management and development of regions, cities, governorates, villages and deserts, in addition to the management and development of decision-making processes and policies in these various local units.
