NewsThe "Riyadh Dictionary," a significant reference book on modern Arabic vocabulary with more than 120,000 entries, was released by the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language on Wednesday. The dictionary was introduced with Prince Badr bin Abdullah, minister of culture and head of the academy's board of trustees, in attendance, along with academics, linguists, and other authorities.
The dictionary's entries are compared to their English equivalents, and for each entry, the meaning or meanings are explained with one or more instances. It is appropriate for use by all Arabic speakers, including academics, authors, writers, researchers, and students.
The acting secretary-general of the academy, Abdullah Al-Washmi, complimented the King's administration for promoting the Arabic language and thanked Prince Badr for helping to make the dictionary accessible to all recipients. According to him, the dictionary is "a qualitative achievement in terms of timing and significance," and the project "witnessed a unique harmony between computer technology and the lexicographic work team." The dictionary, according to Al-Washmi, will also be a useful tool for producers and innovators in the field of linguistic technology, improving Saudi Arabia's capacity to maintain its leadership position in digital development.
The content will be updated using specialised technology that keeps track of terminology and contemporary keywords. Programmers and developers will also be able to create their own technologies, programmes, and games using the dictionary thanks to a search engine.
