NewsThe introduction of Euro 5 clean petrol and diesel, which will replace the current fuels on the market, was completed, the Saudi Ministry of Energy declared on Tuesday. The ministry said that both of the new fuels and the previous ones are appropriate for use in all types of vehicles and that the purpose of the shift is to produce very efficient, low-emission gasoline that helps to protect the environment and realise the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
According to the government, the Kingdom is aiming to achieve zero neutrality by 2060 by applying the circular carbon economy concept, and the launch of these two goods is part of that endeavour. This falls within a framework that is in line with the development plans of the Kingdom, which stem from its trailblazing role in backing global initiatives aimed at combating climate change, safeguarding the environment, and maintaining the Kingdom's standing as a dependable source of energy supplies.
The two new products, according to the ministry, are in line with the objectives of the "Green Saudi Arabia" initiative and the Energy Efficiency Programme, which introduced the Saudi fuel economy standard. These programmes seek to improve energy consumption efficiency and encourage automakers to install the newest energy-efficient technologies in vehicles imported into the Kingdom.
The goal of the Euro 5 European Emission Standard standards was to make the environment safer, healthier, and cleaner. While the Euro 2 diesel specification produces higher pollution, the carbon monoxide specification does not surpass 1.5 percent. Diesel sulphur content is limited to 10 parts per million (ppm) and 1.0-1.5 ppm with the Euro 5 specification, while the Euro 2 specification allows for a maximum of 500 ppm of diesel sulphur and up to 0.46 ppm of smoke opacity.
