NewsThrough the Absher and Muqeem portals, one may report the loss or theft of a passport as well as the loss of an iqama (residency permit) to the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat). On the Absher and Muqeem electronic services platforms run by the Ministry of Interior, these are a couple of the eight new electronic services that Jawzat introduced on Wednesday.
The General Directorate of Passports' headquarters in Riyadh hosted the inaugural event, which was presided over by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, Minister of Interior. Lt. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahya, Director of Passports; Dr. Esam Alwagait, Director of the National Information Centre; Eng. Thamer Al-Harbi, Deputy Assistant Minister of the Interior for Technology Affairs; and Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Jadhai, CEO of Elm Company, were among those present at the event.
Four services are made available by Jawazat on the Absher platform: reporting a lost or stolen passport; digital documents for visits; expatriate reports; and visitor reports.
The Muqeem site has released four new services: changing the translated name; reporting the loss of residency permit (iqama); asking for and checking visas; and alerting employers to serve notice.
Lt. Gen. Al-Yahya stressed that these services are part of the electronic transaction developmental measures that are meant to save time and effort, streamline processes, enhance the quality of passport services, and offer clever solutions and digital transformation to help improve the calibre and effectiveness of services rendered to recipients.
