According to official data, the holy city of Madinah saw over 14.1 million tourists in 2023—a 124 percent increase from 2014.
The attractiveness of the city among pilgrims and tourists was highlighted by the Al-Madinah Region Development Authority, which reported that visitors spent over SR49 billion ($13 billion) in 2023 and that the average stay lengthened to ten days.
In addition to touring archaeological sites connected to the life of the Prophet Muhammad, visitors to the city spent time praying in the Prophet's and Quba mosques.
The authority is preparing over 100 locations in collaboration with its partners to enhance pilgrims' and tourists' experiences and deepen their religious and cultural journeys.
