With the introduction of the Holy Makkah Municipality's digital afforestation initiative, locals and people may now work together to extend green spaces, enhance vegetation cover, safeguard the environment, and lower carbon emissions.
According to a Sunday report by the Saudi Press Agency, the municipality first determines which tree types are ideal for Makkah and the holy places, as well as where they would be best planted. The information is then posted to the Nabatik online platform, which lets people invest in community tree-planting initiatives from the comfort of their homes. Users may choose their favorite tree, choose the site, make online payments, and have the trees planted on their behalf.
By means of this program, the municipality hopes to meet its climate commitments, plant more trees in Makkah and at the holy sites, and track its afforestation achievements on the Nabatik platform.
