06 Jul 2024
NewsOn July 2, Mangaluru International Airport launched its international cargo operations from its integrated cargo terminal, sending 2,522 kg of fruits and vegetables to Abu Dhabi by aircraft IX 815.
However, the official launch took place on Friday, July 5, in front of the AAHL Cargo team, the MIA leadership team, and officials from Customs, Air India Express and IndiGo, and the Airport Security Group of the CISF, according to a statement.
The much-awaited development occurred on May 1, 2023, just over a year after the airport opened for domestic cargo operations. The airport was designated as Custodian and a Customs Cargo Service Provider by the Commissioner of Customs on May 10, 2024, paving the way for the commencement of international cargo operations. The airport pursued its position as a Customs Cargo Service throughout the interim, collaborating with airline partners and regulatory agencies.
