Mataya Exhibition, part of the eighth King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, opened on December 1 and will run for 45 days

Visitors may embark on a trip exploring the significance of the camel in Saudi Arabia and the Arab world by visiting the Mataya Exhibition. The display, which debuted on December 1 and will remain open for 45 days, is a component of the ninth King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, which is hosted by the Saudi Camel Club.

In the Arab world, there are around 17 million camels, including 4.8 million in Sudan and 7.1 million in Somalia. There are 322,579 camels in the Riyadh region, 256,079 in the Eastern region, 200,241 in Makkah, 144,486 in Qassim, and 131,606 in Asir, out of the 1.6 million camels in Saudi Arabia.

According to Exhibition supervisor Salman Al-Ajmi, people think camels are superior to all other animals since they can carry large numbers of people and huge cargo and provide milk and meat. Camels are essential to the Arab economy since they may be used as money for salaries and labour, as presents to rulers, as dowries for brides, as blood money for the families of the murdered, as awards for achievers and heroes, and as medium of trade for products.

Because they can withstand severe weather, lengthy distances, a lack of water, difficult terrain, and large loads better than any other animal, camels are the best mode of transportation. Their milk naturally replaces human milk since it has more vitamin C and less fat than other animal milk, and their flesh is a favourite delicacy among Arabs.

Camel milk because of its inherent anticoagulant qualities, helps the body flush out germs, guards against infections, and helps heal a variety of ailments. Arabs use camel hair to manufacture tents and clothing.
