Minister of Transport and Logistic Services confirms that Jeddah Islamic Port rose from 53rd rank globally to 8th rank

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Eng. Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser has confirmed that Saudi Arabia has been ranked first globally in the efficiency of ports and road networks.

Al-Jasser made the remarks on Thursday during his speech at Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh. He noted that many new developments took place in the mining sector over a long period. "The good news is that Saudi Arabia is currently in a good position with regard to road networks," he added.

Saudi Arabia has been ranked among the top countries of the world in several matters, most notably freight handling with the King Abdullah Economic City Port coming first globally.

Jeddah Islamic Port rose from the 53rd rank globally to the 8th rank, he confirmed and said all of this will reflect positively on the mining sector.

Saudi Arabia has a strong network of roads, ports and logistics services, and this resulted from the organizational reforms and infrastructure development that the Kingdom has witnessed.

The railroad network that the Kingdom owns will be a major enabler for the mining sector, especially with the linking of this network with the ports. Jubail commercial and industrial ports, and King Abdulaziz Port linked to the road network a month ago, he said.

Al-Jasser pointed out that the transportation sector will be one of the competitive edges of the mining sector in the Kingdom.
