NewsThe Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has established two requirements for people seeking industrial and mining consultant licences. Only Saudi citizens with a minimum qualification of a university bachelor's degree may apply for the licence, according to the rules, and the procedures will begin this week.
The consultant licence is divided into three categories by the ministry. In category A, the licensee must acquire 10 points, but in category B, the licensee must obtain 15 points. The licensee must acquire a minimum of 20 points in category C. Holders of a bachelor's degree will receive five points, holders of a master's degree will receive ten points, and holders of a doctorate degree will receive fifteen points.
The ministry has restricted the issuance of consultant licences for industry and mining to Saudis with at least three years of practical experience after receiving an academic certification from a recognised body. The practical experience must be certified by the appropriate authorities, as determined by the ministry on its official website, and must include the availability of the minimum points in the specified category in which the applicant wishes to get the licence.
The government will establish a registry for persons who get a licence to practise industrial consulting and mining consulting. It is illegal to practise these professions without a government licence. It is also not permitted to transfer the licence to another person.
The licensee must follow the ethics of the profession, according to the government. In the case of a breach, the perpetrator will get a warning, a temporary suspension of the licence determined by a specialised committee, or termination of the licence. There is the option of applying several penalties depending on the severity of the infraction.
