MoH stressed the importance of taking the influenza vaccine to avoid its spread

To stop the spread of the flu, the Ministry of Health (MoH) emphasised the need of being vaccinated. The Ministry emphasised that precautions must be taken to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses like influenza. It was highlighted that receiving the influenza vaccination will help prevent infection, lessen symptoms associated with the virus, and considerably lower the number of cases.

According to the MoH, influenza is seen as an acute viral infection that spreads quickly and affects people of all ages. It was explained that persons with chronic illnesses, youngsters, the elderly, pregnant women, as well as healthcare professionals, are the categories most susceptible to severe problems.

In terms of how the virus is spread, the MoH stated that it does so either by contacting infected surfaces or by breathing droplets containing the virus. It stated that the incubation phase typically lasts between 2-4 days.

The Ministry claimed that the virus appears as winter approaches and emphasised that being vaccinated against the seasonal flu each year is one of the most crucial preventative measures. A high fever of more than 38 degrees Celsius, chills, sweating, headache, persistent dry cough, weariness, lethargy, runny nose, sore throat, and muscular discomfort are just a few of the flu's many symptoms.

According to the Ministry, a variety of variables, including old age, the existence of chronic conditions, a weakened immune system, and obesity, influence the risk of contracting influenza. All Saudi citizens are now able to get the influenza vaccination by scheduling a visit using the "Sehhaty" application and picking it up at the neighbourhood primary healthcare facility.
