Najm launched an AI-based initiative where smart devices installed in vehicles measure driving behaviour and give feedback to drivers

New artificial intelligence (AI) technology that measures driving behaviour and gives feedback to drivers might soon aid Saudi drivers and increase road safety throughout the Kingdom.

As part of a project that Saudi Insurance Services Company (Najm) unveiled in Riyadh on Monday, smart gadgets fitted in cars will track speed, acceleration, braking, turns, and adherence to traffic laws. The telematic system is capable of data analysis and risk assessment of drivers in relation to established benchmarks.

Depending on how they drive, drivers might receive benefits and reductions on their auto insurance.

An enhanced method of tracking driving behaviour will be made available through the Najm project, a partnership between analytics platform AiGenix and US-based Cambridge Mobile Telematics.

Additionally, Najm is going to start a road safety awareness programme on social media.

In order to implement the new telematics system and encourage users to employ sensors that track driving habits and adherence to traffic laws, Najm has already teamed with a number of insurance firms.
