National Center for Palms and Dates has announced the launch of the Seasonal Markets System

The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, in partnership with the National Centre for Palms and Dates, has announced the opening of the Seasonal Markets System, an electronic platform that is required to govern and arrange the selling of dates in seasonal markets.

To improve the effectiveness and caliber of market data in every area of the Kingdom, the system requires registration from anybody wishing to buy, sell, or market dates.

The new system makes it simple to complete sales and purchases, record transactions, protect financial transactions, and choose marketing service providers. Additionally, it makes it possible to check average pricing across all wholesale date marketplaces, access a wider choice of markets, and track transactions in real time. By improving the effectiveness of seasonal date markets and fostering sustainable growth in the palm and date industry through a wide range of agricultural and marketing services, the centre emphasised the system's significance in accomplishing its strategic goals.

In addition to improving sales techniques, encouraging good selling practices, energising date markets, drawing buyers, expanding job opportunities, and developing financing solutions in collaboration with pertinent entities, the system targets farmers, marketers (service providers), and buyers.

With more than 36 million palm trees, Saudi Arabia produces more than 1.6 million tonnes of dates a year, which it exports to 119 countries for SR1.462 billion. It is notable that in order to safeguard all stakeholders and increase the sector's competitiveness both domestically and globally, access to seasonal date markets will only be granted upon registration in the Seasonal Markets System.
