By the end of 2022, there will be 11.5 million beneficiaries of Saudi health insurance, an 18% increase from the previous year. In light of the fact that health insurance is predicted to contribute SR61 billion, or roughly 2 percent of the GDP, by 2030, the insurance industry hopes to serve 25 million people by then, according to a report issued on Thursday by the Saudi Council of Health Insurance.
Recent years have seen a considerable growth in the Saudi health insurance market, particularly because private sector employees and their families are now required to have health insurance.
The Nphies platform, which offers unified electronic services, had its initial phase introduced by the council. This is a nationwide network for health and insurance exchange services designed to improve the quality of health insurance services, manage the processing of claims and related costs, and facilitate the secure sharing of operational data about insurance.
The platform also intends to shorten the duration and expense of approval processes and generate a single health file for the covered. All financial transactions between health insurance companies and healthcare service providers are linked electronically to achieve this.
