One of Saudi Arabia's visionary giga-projects, the Red Sea is set to redefine luxury travel

The Red Sea, one of Saudi Arabia's ambitious giga-projects that was founded in 2018, is poised to change the definition of luxury tourism by providing a unique and varied experience that is in line with the lofty objectives of Vision 2030. A world of adventure, elegance, and tradition beyond the horizon is showcased through the 'See beyond' campaign, which highlights the destination's natural richness. The destination's recent opening is a significant step towards realising the promise of Vision 2030.

Under the direction of CEO John Pagano, The Red Sea Project has become one of the giga-projects that is most likely to be completed on schedule since it was first announced in 2018. The project has reached a number of significant milestones, including Red Sea Global's growth and King Salman's approval of the project's masterplan. Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman also unveiled the Coral Bloom designs.

Three opulent resorts—The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Six Senses Southern Dunes, and Nujuma, A Ritz Carlton Reserve—will open as part of the project's first phase. Located on the remote island of Ummahat, The St. Regis Red Sea Resort is the hub of this remarkable location. This resort, which is only a short boat or seaplane journey away, offers an exceptional living experience with its ninety-nine modern villas tucked away among a vibrant coral reef.

The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, which is committed to protecting a varied ecology, offers cutting-edge spa and pool amenities, a kids' club, and state-of-the-art exercise centres. Three different restaurants provide great fine dining experiences, and the St. Regis Butler Service guarantees individual attention. Six Senses Southern Dunes, which is next to the Oasis complex, blends in with the surroundings with its 36 guestrooms, 36 suites, and 40 pool villas that are shaped like the dunes. The rich hues and textures of the Saudi Arabian desert are reflected in the interior design.

Offering a plethora of seamless, customised experiences, the Red Sea lets visitors discover ecosystems both above and below the water. Activities offered by WAMA, a subsidiary brand of RSG, include snorkelling trips, PADI dive classes, and scuba diving. Akun offers a variety of experiences on land and in the air, including hiking, trail running, and dirt riding. When visitors interact with the local population, the destination's distinctive cultural legacy is brought to life. Art installations, stargazing, farmers' markets, and gastronomic explorations are examples of cultural experiences. Astrophotography, bird watching, mangrove sowing, and turtle hatch monitoring are additional activities that centre around nature.

The Red Sea, which covers 28,000 square kilometres, is home to more than 90 immaculate islands, dormant volcanoes, mountain valleys, and ancient ruins. The location, where Europe, Asia, and Africa merge, is a seamless luxury getaway that can be reached in three hours by 250 million people thanks to its own international airport. When the Red Sea destination is finished in 2030, it will include fifty resorts with up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential units spread across 22 islands and six inland locations. In addition, the location will have golf courses, F&B, entertainment, and opulent marinas.

The project welcomed a group of Saudi officials and forward-thinking leaders as the first visitors to the location to commemorate the historic launch. On Wednesday morning, they arrived at Red Sea International Airport (RSI) on a special-edition SAUDIA aircraft from Riyadh. The aircraft was assigned the distinguished number SV2030, which represents the importance of this occasion in realising the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

To commemorate the event, RSG also saw the launch of Fly Red Sea, a subsidiary firm that operates seaplanes that are intended to carry visitors to the island resorts of The Red Sea by means of pristine seas. The opening of The Red Sea destination is a testament to goal 2030's revolutionary goal as well as a significant step forward for luxury travel.
