NewsCustodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has given directives to prolong the term for recipients of the Citizen Account Programme to get further assistance by two months. As a result, registration for the programme will be open until September 2023. The royal edict follows the advice of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, who also chairs the Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA).
The Citizen Account Programme was established to shield Saudi families from the effects of global price increases. In July 2022, a royal edict was issued allocating further financial support to Citizen Account Programme recipients until the conclusion of the fiscal year 2022. This term was then extended, and registration for the programme was maintained open until July 2023, according to royal decrees published in January and April 2023, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
