NewsA historic UNESCO VIP dinner was held this week in the amphitheatre at Bujairi Terrace, attended by prominent figures including members of the royal family, politicians, and delegation leaders. Representatives from the public and commercial sectors gathered in Diriyah for the 45th Session of the UNESCO World assets Committee, a series of activities that took place from September 10 to September 25. The discussions focused on the protection of cultural assets across the world.
The UN Global Compact, the largest corporate sustainability and social responsibility project in the world, was revealed to include Diriyah, the City of Earth, on September 10 during the UNESCO Partners Forum. Being a sustainable pedestrian city that honours culture and legacy, Diriyah will be a special contribution. Business leaders gathered at the UNESCO Partners Forum to pave the way for further corporate sector participation in global heritage protection.
Following the productive forum, VIP tours were given to the honoured guests. Visitors were welcomed by Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO of Diriyah Company, and given a tour of At-Turaif, the UNESCO World Heritage Site that serves as the development's historic core. Additionally, Robert "Bobby" Sager hosted signing events to promote the publication of his next book, "Diriyah Face to Face," which will be available in October. The book investigates the streets, palaces, mosques, and landscapes of the 265-year-old city, discovering "faces" in the weathered mud brick patterns of Diriyah's ancient Najdi architecture.
