Qiddiya City revealed plans for the world's first comprehensive gaming and esports district

Plans for the world's first complete gaming and esports zone were unveiled by Qiddiya City on Thursday. With this ground-breaking initiative, Saudi Arabia will be positioned as a major worldwide centre for the booming esports and gaming sector. Featuring four cutting-edge esports venues, this dynamic zone in the centre of Qiddiya City is set to become a significant destination. These locations are anticipated to draw up to 10 million people a year and are built to accommodate significant international events.

The project is a part of a larger plan to use play's international appeal to turn Qiddiya City into a top sports, entertainment, and cultural destination. Four esports venues are part of the ambitiously constructed gaming and esports zone. With a total seating capacity of 73,000, they will host a year-round schedule of major esports events, providing esports aficionados with an unmatched experience.

The Board of Directors of Qiddiya Investment Company states that one of the venues would have the biggest indoor LED screen in an esports stadium in the world, with 5,300 seats, placing it in the top three largest esports venues worldwide. The project has brought pride to Abdullah Al Dawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company.

In addition to housing top esports teams during competitions, the area will serve as a permanent home for up to 25 clubs. These spaces are made for residing, training, and competition, promoting a thriving esports neighbourhood.

Leaders in the industry will also be welcomed to Qiddiya City, which is home to the regional headquarters of more than 30 leading video game businesses. Over 500,000 square metres of gaming area will be combined with 100,000 square metres of shopping, eating, and entertainment venues to create the Gaming & Esports District. The area is meant to serve as a gaming sanctuary, complete with lodging options and apartments with a gaming motif that offer a distinctive setting for gamers to live, work, and play.

This programme is a key component of the National Gaming and Esports Strategy, which seeks to position Saudi Arabia—which has a sizable population of gamers—as the world's hub for gaming and esports by 2030.

This news comes soon after the power of play was highlighted as the centrepiece of a new Qiddiya concept. With additional attractions scheduled to be revealed soon, Qiddiya City offers experiences in entertainment, sports, and culture that are unmatched.
