Quality of life in Madinah keeps improving with various changes and accomplishments

Under Vision 2030, Madinah's economy, culture, and quality of life are all improving, according to the Madinah Region Development Authority.  According to authority officials, they want to draw attention to the accomplishments and changes occurring in the region.

With 18 million tourists visiting the area in 2024, tourism is growing. The average duration of stay for visitors in 2023 was 10 days. 3,200 sites are listed in the National Urban Heritage Register, the region was placed seventh globally on the Tourism Performance assessment, and it was ranked 88th globally on Euromonitor International's 2024 assessment of the top 100 metropolitan destinations.

In a recent announcement, the Saudi Capital Market Authority made history by allowing foreigners to invest in Saudi-listed firms that possess real estate in Makkah and Madinah.

Along with several other milestones, Al-Madinah Smart City has also achieved a number of other successes, such as moving up 11 spots in the International Institute for Management Development Smart City Index, which now ranks 74th internationally after placing 85th in 2023.

Some noteworthy projects carried out in association with the Vision Realization Program include the Dar Al-Hijra project in Madinah, which attempts to retrace the steps of the Prophet Muhammad's journey, and the King Salman Project to expand Quba Mosque, which intends to tenfold the area and develop 57 historical sites to accommodate 66,000 worshippers.

Madinah is regarded as one of the Kingdom's easiest places to reach by air, sea, and land. In 2024, 77 airlines flew more than 72,000 flights to 36 domestic and foreign destinations, carrying 10 million passengers between its three airports.

According to the authorities, there are currently 123 stations for public buses in Madinah, and 9 million passengers have been carried by the Haramain High Speed Railway Depot.
