Registration for itikaf at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah during the month of Ramadan will begin on Wednesday, March 5, according to a statement released by the General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. On that day, registration will open on the authority's official website at 11:00 AM.
According to the government, registration will close after all of the spaces allocated for the itikaf ritual have been filled. Itikaf will start on Ramadan 20, which is March 20, and last until Ramadan 30.
In accordance with the particular requirements and established criteria, the authority will begin awarding permits to individuals who have registered on its official website. Following the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), itikaf refers to a Muslim staying at a mosque exclusively for the goal of worshiping and gaining a deeper relationship with Allah. The custom is often carried out during the last ten days of Ramadan, which started on March 1 in Saudi Arabia this year.
