The Riyadh Dog Festival is back for its second year, offering a variety of activities and competitions designed to attract dog enthusiasts from around the world, with a special focus on the Arabian Saluki breed.
Part of Riyadh Season 2024, the festival began on December 2 and will run until December 7, featuring over 1,000 dogs participating in various events, as announced by the General Entertainment Authority.
The festival will host several competitions, including five main categories: Saluki races, agility dog races, working dog races, a dog beauty contest, and K9 shows.
The event highlights the Saluki breed through a dedicated museum. The Saluki, one of the oldest purebred dogs in the world, is thought to have originated in the Middle East.
The museum features an educational exhibit about the breed's history and its cultural importance in the region.
Other attractions at the festival include a Cat Lounge where visitors can interact with and feed various cat breeds, as well as a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and classic car display showcasing customized motorcycles and vintage cars.
Additional activities include dog fashion shows, grooming demonstrations, a dog park, and a sheepdog display.
The event provides a range of facilities and services, including a specialized dog club, diverse restaurants and cafes, retail stores, and fully equipped health clinics to ensure proper care for the participating dogs.
