At its new offices on the King Saud University campus, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, which is part of the Ministry of Culture, is making extensive preparations for the Riyadh International Book Fair 2023. The book fair, with the theme of "Inspirational Destination," will begin on September 28 and go through October 7 on a space measuring 46,000 square metres. In terms of the variety of the cultural programmes and the activities it offers to suit the interests of people of all ages, the book fair will be the biggest in the Kingdom and the Arab world.

The 10-day festival, which will feature participation from numerous publishing houses from around the globe as well as cultural organisations and institutions, is anticipated to draw more than a million book lovers and readers. It will feature the newest publications and titles as well as rare and priceless holdings like manuscripts and paintings.

The book fair will feature more than 200 cultural events, including discussions, lectures, poetry readings by eminent classical and Nabati poets, workshops in a range of subject areas, and interactions between authors and writers. In a joyful, cultural setting, the fair will offer a variety of educational opportunities for kids, as well as enriching and developing their talent, talents, and cognitive skills.

Additionally, there will be theatrical productions from Saudi Arabia and abroad, musical and lyrical concerts, and the Book Talk event, which brings together a number of notable authors and thinkers for activities that encompass all facets of culture. Along with a sizable space for kids and a number of helpful pavilions, the fair will also feature book signing platforms where a number of authors may gather to sign their most recent works and show them to their audience. There will be a section set out for Saudi authors who self-publish, giving them the chance to showcase more than 400 of their works.

The Riyadh Book Fair is hosting a poem recitation competition for kids for the first time this year so that the youngsters may take part in the experience of learning poetic writing and recitation techniques, which improves their language abilities and personality development.

During this year's book show, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission will honour publishers with prizes. This includes the following five categories: translation, digital platforms, Saudi content, and general category. In order to strengthen the role of publishers in enhancing cultural material, the Public Investment Fund subsidiary Roshn Real Estate Development Company, the exhibition partner, will award the winners with translation grants.

On October 4, the commission will host an international publishers meeting in conjunction with the book expo. The event will feature a number of notable Saudi and foreign speakers, including leaders in the publishing sector, independent publishers, writers, content creators, and professionals. The conference's dialogue sessions will cover a range of topics related to the book industry, including how to transfer professional experience to start-up businesses, improve opportunities for regional publishers to enter the copyright market, make it possible to sell and trade rights and transfer experience, promote Saudi culture abroad, and advance the publishing sector by implementing the highest standards of quality and global best practises.

It is significant that the Riyadh Book Fair in 2022, which was held under the theme "Cultural Chapters," had 1,200 publishing firms from 32 different nations showcasing their books.
