Royal approval had been issued to hold a symposium on fatwas at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah

The Prophet's Mosque in Madinah will host a symposium on fatwas with royal sanction, according to Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the head of religious affairs at the two holy mosques. The conference will concentrate on decisions made at the two holy mosques and how they affect the ease with which people can attend the sites of worship. A fatwa is a legal pronouncement on a matter of Islamic law.

According to Al-Sudais, the symposium is an expansion of the Saudi government's efforts to support the two holy mosques and spread their message around the world in line with the Kingdom's moderation, which is founded on the Qur'an and the Prophet Muhammad's traditions. He clarified that the consent to host this symposium is in favour of the change in the processes used to issue fatwas and their digitization in a way that best serves the religious requirements of mosque guests and facilitates their performance of rites.

Al-Sudais continued, saying that King Salman's consent for the symposium to be held demonstrated the Kingdom's concern for fatwas because of its direct bearing on the Two Holy Mosques pilgrims.
