20 Dec 2023
NewsThe King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in the city of Riyadh has seen the completion of its major network of "Riyadh Bus" services, according to the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). As a result, there are now 54 bus routes overall, serving 679 buses through 2145 stations and stops.
By making the most of the services at their disposal and ensuring a convenient and simple travel experience, the "Riyadh Bus" application makes a unique contribution to the provision of an easy journey experience for network users. With the application's "Choose your destination" function, network users can quickly plan their travels, choose their starting spots, and learn the routes and trip times. They can purchase trip tickets through the application using the "Buy your ticket" feature. These advanced features ensure that users receive accurate and convenient information and help to improve the public transport experience in the city of Riyadh. They can also track the journey through the interactive map "Trace your route," which provides accurate information about trips and their details easily.
Together with the other features and benefits offered by the application, passengers can pay their trip fare digitally using the in-bus digital payment device. These features offer a seamless and user-friendly transportation experience, and in addition to the information offered by the Riyadh Bus electronic portal (www.riyadhbus.sa), passengers can choose from a variety of options to learn about bus routes and the ticketing process.
Passengers may also conveniently pay for their bus fare with the "Darb Card" service, which is available for purchase from ticket vending machines or office locations at bus stops in Riyadh. An integrated network of buses and trains will be implemented as part of the King Abdulaziz Public Transport Project in Riyadh in order to address the city's present and future transport needs. The initiative helps the city of Riyadh improve its competitiveness in a number of areas, strengthen its economic structure, and strengthen its standing as a top travel and business destination.
With 87 Riyadh Bus routes—54 of which make up the main Riyadh Bus network—and 33 feeder routes for the Riyadh Train—which have more than 2,900 stations and stopping points—the project intends to operate an advanced public transport network using the newest technologies. This will provide important passenger transit across the city via more than 800 buses that span 1,900 km and 6 tracks for the Riyadh Train, which has 84 train stops dispersed among the neighbourhoods of the capital.
