SAFF announced that three new stadiums will be built for hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup

Three new stadiums will be built and four stadiums shall be renovated in preparation for hosting the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. This was announced by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) on Wednesday.

SAFF has released pictures of the stadiums which will embrace the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Riyadh, Al-Khobar and Dammam after being expanded and developed. The three new stadiums that will be built for the tournament are the Riyadh Stadium, the Qiddiya Stadium and Dammam Stadium.

The Riyadh Stadium, which will be built specially for the Asian Cup, will be with a unique design, fun experience, possibility of adjusting the capacity, in addition to being easily accessible by metro.

The second announced stadium that will be built soon for the Asian Cup is Dammam Stadium, which will have modern specifications that suit the region’s environment, the fan experience and the aesthetic satisfaction.

Moreover, the Qiddiya Stadium in Riyadh, as the Saudi 2027 said in its official Twitter account that the stadium will be one of the masterpieces that Saudi 2027 will provide to Asia.

As for the stadiums that will be rehabilitated, King Fahad Stadium in Riyadh will include the removal of the track, increasing the number of seats and establishing new facilities.

The Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Stadium will be distinguished by the fact that it is located in the center of Riyadh, in addition to being steps away from the metro station.

It will also witness a renovation such as the removal of the running track, increasing the capacity and expanding the facilities.

The Prince Saud Bin Jalawi City Stadium in Khobar will have an integrated rehabilitation, such as raising the capacity, in addition to having stands throughout the stadium.

Moreover, Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam will witness a renovation process, the first of its kind, for Saudi 2027, such as increasing the capacity and removing the track.

 

Saudi Arabia will be hosting the tournament in three cities and in 10 stadiums. Earlier on Wednesday, Saudi Arabia won the bid to host the 2027 AFC Asian Cup for the first time in its history. A formal decision in this regard was taken by the 33rd session of the Confederation’s General Congress held in Manama.
