The Music Cities Awards are an annual international competition that recognises "outstanding applications of music for economic, social, environmental, and cultural development." This time Saudi Arabia has been chosen to host the competition in 2024.
The Saudi Music Commission said on Thursday that the event, which is scheduled for November 14–16, 2018, at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is anticipated to draw over 100 music specialists. Additionally, a six-week intensive programme in music education will be held at the Saudi Centre for Music.
According to authorities, the hosting of the awards reflects the Ministry of Culture's efforts to advance global cultural interactions in support of the Kingdom's economic development and diversification objectives as outlined in the Saudi Vision 2030 plan.
