Saudi Arabia has officially lodged a bid to host the 11th session of the World Water Forum in 2027

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has formally submitted a bid to hold the 11th World Water Forum session in Riyadh in 2027. This action demonstrates the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable water resource management, improving quality of life, attaining sustainable development objectives, and maintaining its leadership in tackling water-related challenges on a regional and international scale.

The premier international gathering for water management is the World Water Forum, which is hosted by the World Water Council. Governments, organisations, officials, and specialists from a range of sectors come together to exchange experiences and promote collaborative efforts aimed at advancing and maintaining water resources.

The forum acts as a vital hub for international cooperation and the sharing of ideas and information. It enables participants to present international best practices and investigate collaborative opportunities, guaranteeing the sustainable management of water resources globally.

Saudi Arabia's candidature to host the forum is bolstered by its cutting-edge infrastructure, strict rules, and extensive water sector legislation—all of which make it one of the world's water-poorest nations. The National Water Strategy of the Kingdom serves as a roadmap for the future, attempting to tackle issues with a comprehensive institutional and structural framework.
